Water Jet

Faced with the challenge of incorporating dynamic lighting to 12′ water jets the Light-thecno design team decided to use high-power LED light sources. The system chosen comprised IP68 LED projectors with Luxeon light sources and controlled via a propietary system or DMX 512. The system can be run independently with resident programming or integrate into the lighting network.

Roundabout

To provide utilitarian and decorative lighting to this roundabout, the designers chose a system of water jets illuminated through a crystal head to inject light into the water, using a high power discharge illuminator and high-performance light guides with sequential color change.

Materials

HLG201, 5mm high performance light guides with self-extinguishing fire rated cladding, powered by MDI100 series, 150W discharge illuminators, with 4000º K ceramic metal halide lamps and sequential dychroic color change.

Nou Barris Park

Somhidros, one of the foremost European hydraulic system designers and manufacturers, decided to use exclusively fiber optics on their huge Nou Barris Park in Barcelona for a low-maintenance installation. The main lake perimeter, geysers and waterfalls are lit with fiber optics light guides. To create an intertwining tracery of water arches, Somhidros designed special water lances with fiber optics light guides inside to illuminate the water itself without obvious source.

Nou Barris Park

For the largest modern waterworks in Barcelona, comprising a waterfall, geysers, high-pressure lances, arched jets, underwater spots and uplighters, the designers specified fiber optics as sole source of light. The whole installation operates on white light, with the exception of the waterfall where random colors change continuously through infinite combinations. The fiber end points were installed on a specially designed support beaming downwards onto the rushing water sheet. The effect is magical.
